Needlepoint Doorstops

Every January when the busy holiday season at A&L comes to an end I get this mad urge to organize!!  I come up with major moves in our home and office that will make our lives so much easier. 

Gray dreads these grand plans as they almost always involve moving something huge, or as was the case this year, having things moved to our summer house and bringing things from there back here.  Every year I hear, "I am not going to keep moving furniture around.  I feel like all we do is rearrange furniture!" 

After a solo drive north in a U-Haul van filled with furniture, I think Gray really got on board with the plan! 

Anyway...our big moves are now mostly done. Posie has a new bedroom, Gray has a new dressing room, and I have spruced things up!! 

Part of what spurrs me on to make changes is seeing all the beautiful things that get ordered from A&L HOME all holiday season.  I have to add a few of these pretty things to my own home!! 

One of my favorite additions this year are my new doorstops which arrived last week.  I ordered the Geometric Squares Needlepoint Doorstop in Blue for my room and we put a Pair of Turtles Needlepoint Doorstop in Gray's dressing room. 

I had an old wooden bunny doorstop for Posie's room, but she was very unhappy not to have a new doorstop too!  She has selected the Insects and Butterflies on Yellow Needlepoint Doorstop and would like me to order it for her ASAP!!!

One thing I do have to say about these doorstops is that they really are heavy enough to hold the door.  The nice thing is that they have a soft fabric bottom so the wooden floors are completely protected when Posie decides to open and close her door a million times!!

Red Snowflakes Decoupage Picture Frame

After a long day of heavily falling snow yesterday, we are finally plowed out and back at the A&L Offices today.

It was a beautiful storm with big heavy snowflakes.  The kind of snow that kids love...perfect for building snowmen, forts, and the occational snow ball.  Needless to say, our daughter spent much of her day yesterday outside playing.

The final total was about 13 inches of snow for Portland, Maine. Seems once again our neighbors to the South got hit much harder than we did.  I have to say that I am so glad...13 inches of snow is pretty and not too hard to move.  More than 13 inches is a lot of hard work to deal with!

Polar Bear Hood Ornament

Last week a Polar Bear Hood Ornament arrived from Europe for a customer of ours in Alaska.

It was really very impressive. 

It weighs over 4 lbs and it feels really big and sturdy.

It is going to go onto the front of a jacked up Ford Pickup Truck.

I think that should work just fine...

My Own Decoupage

I Love Decoupage. 

Over the years I have collected and made numerous decoupaged items.  I am about to order several new Decoupage Wastepaper Baskets from A&L HOME and as I was deciding what to order I noticed some of my old work. I thought it would be fun to post some of the things I have made. 

I made this tin cachepot and now use to hold napkins in my kitchen. 

I made this wastepaper basket a long time ago!  I was trying out some crackle paint techniques and I think the image came out of a Martha Stewart magazine. 

While I am clearly an amateur decoupage artist, the decoupage plates, frames, and wastepaper baskets on A&L HOME are amazingly well made and so beautiful! 

I need to order wastebaskets for a bathroom, bedroom and living room.  I will let you know what I end up picking...

NEW Bunny and Dragon Needlepoint Baby Shoes

I have just added some new Needlepoint Baby Shoes to A&L HOME and had to post them to the blog.

They are SO adorable!

For those pink lovers out there we have these soft pink Bunny Needlepoint Baby Shoes.

For those looking for something a bit more boyish we have these cool Dinosaur Needlepoint Baby Shoes.

Both styles are hand needlepointed and have soft leather soles which are great for little feet learning to crawl and walk.

I already know who is getting the Dinosaurs from me.  I wonder who will be the next to have a little girl...

Canine Heritage Charm Bracelet

For Christmas Gray and Posie gave me a new charm bracelet. For the last few years I have been wearing a Terrier charm bracelet with all different terrier charms on it that I had made up when we first opened Agatha & Louise. 

My new bracelet has charms for the dogs I have loved in my life. There is a Golden Retriever, two Norwich Terriers, a Border Collie, and of course a Cairn Terrier.

One of the coolest things about these bracelets is that you can have the back engraved with the dog's name.  I love that I have Ginger, Breeze, Pickle, Honey and Gilkey around my wrist so I can think about my beloved dogs everyday!
